First Look at Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man Noir Costume Revealed in On-Set Photos
The first glimpse of Nicolas Cage as the lead in Sony’s Spider-Noir series has made waves, revealing a gritty, faithful adaptation of this unique Spider-Man character. Sony’s Spider-Man Universe continues to grow with new films like Venom: The Last Dance* currently in theaters and Kraven the Hunter expected in December. However, Sony's plans extend beyond cinemas to streaming platforms, with Spider-Noir marking the first of several live-action Marvel series coming to Prime Video.
New photos and footage shared by TMZ reveal Cage in action as Spider-Man Noir, decked out in his iconic black suit complete with the fedora, trench coat, and goggles fans have come to recognize from the Spider-Verse animated films. One intense scene shows Cage’s Spider-Man Noir perched on top of a speeding car, seemingly using his webs to halt the vehicle in a daring chase sequence.
This first look at Spider-Noir suggests Sony's commitment to staying true to the character’s aesthetic from the comics and animated adaptations, a sign that they’re aiming to honor the noir-inspired visuals that define this version of Spider-Man. However, the series won’t be a complete replica of the character’s comic book lore. In a choice that distinguishes it from other Spider-Man portrayals, Cage’s character won’t be an alternate version of Peter Parker, as in the comics, but will instead be someone entirely new. Though the exact identity remains under wraps, rumors suggest Cage might be playing Marvel’s Ben Reilly.
Notably, the show has dropped the “Spider-Man” name from its title, going simply with Spider-Noir, another step toward setting it apart from the more mainstream Spider-Man universe featuring Tom Holland. Even with these creative shifts, Cage’s Spider-Man Noir still looks every bit the mysterious and shadowy hero fans expect.
